With U11’s out of the finals action, the team was ready to finish the season on a high note - especially since we were lucky enough to play our final game at the GBC.

Beau Martinella started on the mound and as always, he pounded the strike zone and kept Kensington Cardinals to a scoreless inning.

With nothing to lose, the U11’s were swinging the bats, looking to hit. We had 2 batters on base due to walks and Opal Crabb had a cracking hit to score our first run.

Beau started off the 2nd inning and did a great job right up until he reached his pitch count. Mason came in to relief and threw plenty of strikes.

Cardinals then made a pitching change and we managed to score the maximum 4 runs off walks alone, so we went into the final inning leading 5-4. Kensington fired up their bats and came out swinging to take the lead with 5 hits to score 4 runs.

With 2 outs, Ethan Swansson hit promisingly to the left side of the field, for the ball to hit the top of Short Stop’s glove, bounce off and then caught by the left fielder - an unbelievable play to end the game going down 8-5.

All in all, it was a great game to end on with plenty of hits and plays in the field for our Tigers to execute everything we have learnt this season. In our post game meeting, the kids commented on how much they have improved this season and as coaches, that’s all we can ask for.

Also, BIG congratulations to Zac MacLean who was announced in the Baseball SA top Junior MVP’s. He has been outstanding all season and it’s well and truly deserved – well done!

Til’ next season Tigers!
