Division 1 - BYE

Division 2 - Glenelg 1 lost to Gawler 2

We Headed out to Gawler on the weekend for the longest road trip of the season

Harro got the start for us and easily worked his way through 5 innings only giving up 2 unearned runs

Flynn then worked the last 3 and finished off what Harro started

This is basically all she wrote. Apart from a scatter of hits to Mags, Rion, Darcy, Wurfel and Witty coming up clutch with an RBI double we just did not make adjustments in the box. Allowing the Gawler pitchers to strike out 14 of us.

When the game ended we were staring at a 2 to 1 loss.

It was a tough day but maybe one we needed to have. It was a good wake up call to show if you’re not willing to change something the game will slip away. Yes it was hard with a moving strike zone but I ask did anyone move closer to the plate to cover the outside edge?

Few highlights from the game Kyle drawing a walk and stealing two bags to the score on Witty’s double and Bailey Edgar making his Div 2 debut behind the dish showing at 14 he will have a bright future moving forward

Let’s learn from it and move on. One loss doesn’t cost a season we will take what we have learnt and use it against the angles on the weekend.

Division 3 - Glenelg 3 lost to Gawler 4

The 10am kick off saw Archie Lovelock start the game off with a lead-off single, but we couldn't convert base runners early into vital runs. Darcy Gluyas started for us and worked through a shaky first innings, surrendering 2 runs, but was awesome over the next 4 innings once he found his way.

We seemed to strand runners every innings, just missing the big hit we needed to really put some scoreboard pressure on. Trailing 3-2 with 10 minutes left the game was called, until we confirmed with the opposition and the umpire we actually play 9 innings or 2 hours, not 7. With some great AB's we tied the game up on the back of big hits to Wurfel and Thompson helping the cause. Obi Monkhouse having a tough AB and getting a ball in play to tie it up. The home side came out swinging in the last against new hurler L Thommo and got themselves over the line.

Some good signs from the young guys the positive.

Division 4 - Glenelg 23 def Woodville 3

Our first home game of the year started with some unclear heads rolling out, after celebrating our great mate Hegs the night before. I vaguely remembered agreeing to catch on Friday, so I downed some powerades and donned the tools of ignorance to kick off the first inning with my old battery partner T Stevens.

The Big D - S Deeble set the tone for our day with a lead off ground rule double, we followed this up with a few hits and before the first was over it was 6-0 to the home team. Stevo threw well, but also got 2 knocks on the day and after 4 innings he had done his part.

We continued to hit well through each innings, the 1-2-3 guys getting 11 hits between them, including 5 doubles and a homer.

Paul Sadler made his debut on the bump, struck a guy out, hit a guy, got through his 1 inning of work. Old timer Jamie Kloeden sent down the weird stuff to record the final 3 outs. A few big challenges ahead of us in the coming weeks, so we look to keep the bats rolling.

Division 5 - Glenelg 14 def Southern Hawks 2

The snakes alives were back home in the friendly confines of the Pamela Anderson Fields, ready to take on long-time rival Southern Districts (Hawk version) -  on a fine sunny day at the bay. With teams a bit thin on the ground, Sizzling Steak was on loan to the Al Gores while Jean-Claude Van Slam helped out TeamCeej in the late game after warming up his legs in ours. We also had a new look in the scorer’s bench with slugging Kiwi adventurer CalvesOfLenwah manning the pencils for the first time with us this season.

Kymbo ½ Slice once again assumed starting duties and got through the first without any damage on the scoreboard thanks to another fine running grab to Adam F not S (sponsored by Noel’s Island Star Caravans). The good guys on the other hand wasted no time in attacking the undermanned Hawks with a couple of runs in the first thanks to a Fendog single and a Jouster double.

With shiny new pants and a profile that is the envy of every man at the GBC, K-Slice rolled through the second without incident. The bottom two was a bit of a mixed bag with some boys getting a bit hot under the collar – not as angry as the coach gets when he sees those stupid ass ads for ‘I’m a Celebrity Get me out of here”- but a tad feisty nonetheless. No matter, as BA Baracus smashed a pill through the middle while yelling “I pity the fool that tries to stop that with his leg” as the Hawk pitcher did just that, the Wilson cannoning of the bone for a resultant base hit and an opposition pitcher with a lumpy shin bone… The Fenomenon singled again before the Krajinator, Killer and Mister Freeze followed suit as the scoreboard rolled over to 7-0 in the good guys favour.

After a quiet third where we did give up a run, the fourth saw our boys put up the maximum with hits to ‘The Wrist”, the Unstoppable Pecs Machine, Beef Borrito and the Goosestepper while a few defensive miscues extended the inning.

This one went into the book as a 14-2 win as the boys settled in for a post-game beverage to watch Team Milhouse take on the Senators fresh from congress at Findon and GBC’s newest hero VanDamGrandSlamMan on the back diamond.

And we’re on to Souths (the other ones) next week……

Division 6 - Glenelg Tigers 9 def Sturt 8

A much depleted side,
(No Sandercock, Jucha, Leaker, Hill, Hayward or Hassan and No 'Mesiah Mezzini' at the helm)
took on the previously undefeated 'Sturt Saints' at home.

We just managed to get 9 players on the field with the help of Dan Miela coming up from the 7's
and with Sanga on standby we entered the game more hopeful than confident of the outcome.

Once again the 'Old Warhorse' MITCH took to the mound and did a brilliant job getting
us through 5 innings with B. Dixon finishing off at the end to get us home to a hard fought 9-8 victory.

After getting out to an early lead, we had to come from behind twice, late in the game to get the win.

K.Mundy again did well behind the plate as well as in the batters box and Top up 'Dan' did a great job
running down a number of well hit fly balls as well as getting a timely hit late in the game.

'Finally' Emma got a bit of reward for good consistent 'AT BATS'  with a crucial late hit.

Generally beside a couple of errors and 'UNSIGHTED BALLS ' the fielding was quite good.

Batting wise, an even contribution was had throughout the lineup and with multiple hits to Mundy, Dixon & Beyer
we were able to get home in the end, in a pretty good standard game.

Now sitting at 4 Wins & 1 Loss we look forward to taking on the 'Pirates from Playford' at home again this week.

Division 6 - Glenelg 20 def Adelaide Angels 8

With regular players Alan Laukirbe, Wayne Hughes and "Jackie Brown" unavailable, due to all 3 going on a journey across the Australian outback from Sydney to Alice Springs on a tour bus.

We acquired the services of Aaron VanderWyst and Vanya "Wilder" Gosulin on a one game contract, which was very much appreciated.

Sometimes it might be difficult to write a report about a game. But on this occasion it writes itself.

We batted really well from the lead-off batter down to the number 9 (well maybe 7), with many highlights including

  • Connor Major getting multiple hits, RBIs and triples

  • "Rhys" Capuano and "CJ" Shaw continuing their form from last week with a combined 5 hits and 5 RBI

  • Vanya "Wilder" smashing a Jean Claude Van Slam* over the centrefield fence effectively killing off the game early

  • and some people may not have heard yet, Tim "The Swan Dog" Swansson putting the icing on the cake with a 3-run jack of his own to left.

We also fielded and pitched but these aspects of the game were not as exciting. The Angels got quite a few good hits but not as many as the Tigers on this cool November day at Anderson Reserve diamond 2.

Division 7 - Glenelg 14 def Adelaide 8

There once was a team from the bay

Who had played all there games away.

Corban and Blake were in the zone to play catch all day.

With a win for sneakers 👟 who would think it. 🤭

Smash of the bats Adelaide couldn’t take that.

3 players couldn’t be beaten Stix , Bramley and Mega batting .750 for the game.

Stephen hit like a champ and even did a happy dance. 💃

Adam play a good game hit lights it was his birthday. 🎉

Last catch of the game Timmy Smales from our AZN import that’s what he claims.

Win for that Div 7 team from the bay.
