In the final regular season game of the year we faced the Dodgers for the second time. After a short delay whilst the Dodgers faced some traffic related challenges we got started with Alice Prokopec on the mound. Alice worked through 2 innings in a nice pre finals tune up – missing bats and getting soft contact regularly.
Offensively we stayed strong all night with very competitive at bats putting runners on regularly and keeping the opposing pitchers in high stress / leverage situations. 3 straight 5 run mercy innings before light expired gave us a comfortable 15-2 victory.
Bianca Smith came in for a strong inning in relief retiring the side in order – all in all a nice tune up for our pitchers. Jenny Dunn with another strong outing with the bat – going 2 for 2 whilst everyone reached regularly by hit or walk throughout the night.
Exciting times at tigerland – the post season begins and the ledger resets. We finished the regular season in 2nd spot, and unless the league ladder is inaccurate we should be playing Goodwood this Friday night. Our Division 2 ladies are also in the finals after finishing as minor premiers so we’d love to have as much club support as possible as we play off for the opportunity to progress to the grand final.
