Division 1 - Glenelg 16 def Port Adelaide 0

A gorgeous Friday night rolls into the Bay and we meet Port Adelaide on Diamond 1. While our hopes for more than a starting nine were dashed pre game we none the less got off to a flyer. Jenna Handy had her first start on the mound and worked quickly to get around a one out walk, getting us back into the dugout still scoreless.

The first inning was a great mix of patience and aggressiveness with walks to Handy and Dillon included around singles to Prokopec, Jenny & Jacqui Dunn, & Kenney. A quick five run frame getting us back into the field with all the momentum.

Handy kept the game flying along setting down Port without troubling the scorers, a couple of nice catches looking into the sun a highlight and we were back ready to hit. Another strong inning around walks to Wright and Smith along with hits to Prokopec and Dunn saw us score another 5 runs and we had a healthy lead early.

Handy in her final inning of work mixed in the strike outs and after an impressive three innings of work we had a 10-0 lead. Port swapped out pitchers and we racked up a four run inning on the back of a single to Smith and walks to Dillon, Wright and Handy all following a lead off HBP to McMahon.

Prokopec came onto finish keep the proceedings in order – striking out 3 in a sharp inning of work. 14-0 good guys. 2 singles to Kenney and McMahon followed by a booming double to Dillon and we had the 16-0 mercy finish. We played another good hearted inning with the magpies to keep getting some work in for both teams but in all a very solid performance leading into our final game of the first half of the season next Friday away @ Goodwood.

Great work ladies.
