Division 1 - Glenelg 6 lost to Woodville 8

On a blustery and quite miserable day we had a real tough game on our hand.

Woodville got off to a great start with a two run homer. The ball maybe ended up square.

Despite this the boys really played hard all day but eventually lost to the better team on the day 8 to 6.

Was very impressed with the boys. Never giving up. We had plenty of runners on base but the ball just didn't wanna sit for us.

Again captain Tim Day battled hard on the mound for five digs then young Steffy did his job and got us to Williams to finish the game off.

The boys had great ab's all day. Led by our BOG for the day Connor Hill. Smashing a couple pills pretty hard and getting some hits. Big Beau Bishop also played well and hit a nice homer.

All in all was a good game of baseball and come Tuesday night the boys will bounce back with another win hopefully at home against Henley.

Was a fantastic day for our sponsors so thanks to all organisers and workers. GBC going great guns. Let's keep it rolling

Division 2 - Glenelg 10 def Woodville 2

Back at home against Woodville and looking for a W, game was tight early with both pitchers keeping the opposition in check. With the scores 1 all, we loaded them up for Ben Clavell to go deep and hit a grand slam home run to break open the game. After that the flood gates opened up and we continued to score regularly. Offensively everyone contributed one way or another, defensively we were tight behind a quality start. Great to see Hayden McGearey back on the bump and throwing again in relief. Looking forward to the big match up against West Torrens this weekend.

Division 3 - Glenelg 4 drew Woodville 4

Heading down to Woodville we knew we would be in for a good early season test. Trailing 1-0 after 4 innings, back to back singles to start off the 5th followed by a wild throw saw us snatch the lead at 2-1. The home team bounced back to tie it at 2-2 and in the top of what was the last 3 hits to Witty, Kloeden and Bails saw us plate 2 runs and take the lead into the bottom of the last. Giving up a 2 out, 2 run single meant we ended up with a draw and some frustration for us having let one slip. Lachy Eldridge was good in his longest outing in a few years and even more impressively kept his hitting streak alive.

Division 4 - Glenelg 8 def Woodville 1

The Al Gores headed to Drummond Avenue to take on the Senators of Woodville, arriving just in time to see Tiger legend and BMX bandit Adam Shaw rip around the berm on the Findon Skid Kids bike track, before picking up speed down the straight and launching his trusty wheels off a hastily constructed ramp and through a raging ring of fire, much to the delight of the locals and visitors alike.

On to the main event, and umpire Hugo Von Weaving called “play ball” as Woodville verper Vic Beetlejuice delivered the first pill to Patty Gluyas. The first dig saw the good guys put up a tidy 2-spot with Patty-G and the Fenomenon both picking up hits while a walk to Mr. Freeze and a Sac fly to the Krajinator helped do the trick.

Coach Boris flipped the pill to Matty “99 Holmes” who proceeded to mow down Senators as efficiently as the Blues Brothers did to the Illinois Nazis on the 95th Street Bridge. The Holmesdawg also delivered with the stick, leading off the second with a single, followed by a single to the crusty Boritto. Holmesdawg would eventually cross the plate for a 3-0 Tiger lead after two.

The rest of the contest pretty much followed a similar script, the Senators having no answer to the masterful piffery of Holmesdawg. The young fella had a stellar outing, and with a no-hitter through 3 2/3 innings, was a little unlucky. A ball hit up the middle was fielded by an old bloke diving at full stretch on the backhand, but with an arm less like Javy Baez and more like an overcooked piece of spaghetti, the runner won this one for an infield hit – the only hit conceded in six strong innings from Holmesdawg.

Further hits to Mr. Freeze, the Fenomenon, Krajinator and Steak kept the scoreboard ticking over and when Kymbo Slice took over to finish things off the good guys held an 8-0 lead. A couple of hits and a late error saw the Senators score a late run, but an outstanding over the shoulder catch by a sizzling Steak snuffed out any further concerns for the Tiges.

At 3-0, we now face a massive task against a rampaging Eagle outfit that has scored an average of 18 runs a week in their three wins to date.

Division 5 - Glenelg 5 lost to Golden Grove 10

Division 5 - Tigers

Round 1 v Sturt 14-3 Win

A great start to the season for the new Division side. Solid pitching from the ever reliable Sanga was backed up by Coach Bradey. The coach also led the way on offence with a million (6) RBI's for the day. Bayles, Brother Dixon and Father/Son draft pick Lips Alexander also collected multiple hits.

Round 2 v Souths 3-3 Draw

We had to battle back from a slow start as the bats took a while to warm up and Lenny got the arm going. Despite being 3-0 down late in the game, the boys applied themselves and took advantage of the opportunities presented to them with solid hits to Sanga and The King getting the score going. Brother Dixon showed he's lost nothing in the field in tough conditions on the back diamond. The last inning came down to a line drive from Bayles that would have taken the lead for the good guys that was sensationally caught against an interesting coaching decision by Souths to take the bat out of the hand of their middle order by bunting. Sanga took full advantage to work out of a bases loaded jam to preserve a point in the bottom of the last.

Round 3 v West Torrens 7-4 Win

With a lack of hitting on display, it came down to solid pitching, reasonable fielding and WT helping us out in the field to get the win. Young Blake Hall stepped in to the game at short stop to throw a runner out at the dish in a key play. BA and Kool B were the main contributors in the box with 4 of the 5 hits for the team between them.

Round 4 v Adelaide 10-4 Win

Another solid start, this time from Coach Bradey, was backed up by some solid swings early. Lips threw himself in front of 3 pitches for the day rather than using the stick to get the team rolling. BA became Sac Guy with multiple flares to the outfield scoring runs. Former all-star Luke Thompson finally figured out how to hit lefties to get his hit tally off the mark with solid smashes while Lenny also hit it with authority. Kool B was again dominant with 3 doubles while The King and DJ Chaps also got the bottom of the order involved.

Finally, thanks to Barb Eldridge and Ali Hall for helping out with the scoring as well.

Division 6 - Glenelg 7 lost to West Torrens 13

Division 6  Tigers

Round 1 - Tigers 12 def Hawks 3

Round 2 - Tigers 1 lost to Adelaide 11

We rolled out Matt Laverty pitching and in his first game on the mound he did a very good job, again most of our fielding was OK but some parts just let us down hence the score line, not good .Odin and our new recruit (Peter Hague) were very good in the field.

Not enough the batting box to worry the opposition.

Hopefully next week we can return with a win

Round 3 - Tigers 8 lost to West Torrens 13

We were disappointed on the loss but we played well, team is starting to come together we used Marty, Odin and Paul  on the mound and all had serviceable outing.
