Played Goodwood who are 2 on the ladder, started off well, but then started to lose concentration and heads went down. We need to believe in ourselves and not worry about the opposition. The upside was we started to steal and looked the goods. We play the Angels Sunday for the last game of the year so lookout Adelaide. We want to make amends for last week.
The u13/1’s toughed it out this week against a fired up Goodwood Indian outfit. They brought their best game to the GBC and scored 1 in the first to stamp their authority. The boys fought back hard, and scored two runs in the bottom of the first and the game was on! Goodwood held their composure to score 2 runs in to top of the second, when they came out to field they put on a display and the Tigers were found wanting. Errors in the field and a touch of over excitement on our behalf saw Goodwood go ahead 5 -2. There were some good baseball lessons to be learnt by the U13/1’s and fortunately they were learnt relatively quickly. A great comeback in the last innings saw the boys draw level, however the winning run could not be found by our dynamic squad. Special mention to Kai Reid, Luke Beckham and Noah Matthews for sportsman like efforts on a tough day.
Here’s hoping we bring our best next week against the top team Adelaide Angels!
One run doesn’t win too many ball games.
We knew this would be a tough game for us, but to the guys credit we stuck with it to the very end. Goodwood threw their ace at us and he kept our bats quiet with the bay boys only able to scatter a few hits across the day.
Josh Beckham started for us on the bump and threw quite well, keeping us in the contest. Max Stagg threw the final 2 frames, surrendering 1 run in his 2 innings of work. Ryan Wurfel drove in our run with a double to left, but sadly it was a day with very few highlights with the bat.
This was a good test for us and shows the guys that we really aren't that far off being able to mix it with the top teams, we will aim to keep winning the games we need to in order to push our way into the playoffs.
Flynn totally dominated with the ball and the bat he was outstanding ,a fantastic game .there was some excellent hitting Darcy, Henry, Adam and Harry all got good hits but really all team had good times at bat. We got on base pushed them over and hit then in very easy to manage
We fielded well but not much to do because of our very tight pitching. Odin the standout defensively, we used Riley and Coop to close out, as to save Flynn for the u19 this Wednesday
All good signs please keep it up
