Division 1 - Glenelg 10 def Sturt 2

Out at West Beach we faced the defending premiers with the carrot of win and go straight to the GF in a fortnights time.  Flipping the game ball to B Smith we shut Sturt down in the first – working around a lead off single.

We jumped out of the blocks with a four spot in the first.  Dunn, Handy and Prokopec all singling.  After a fly out, Smith and Harris also singled to keep the inning ticking over.

Back to back to back, one two three inning’s in the second, third and fourth kept all momentum in our dugout as Smith combined strongly with our defence.

We scored two more in the second, and four in the fourth as we kept pressure on the basepaths all night.

Sturt scored an unearnt run in the fifth and a final run in the seventh to close out their scoring.  Smith went 6 and a third (3 H, 4 Ks) with Prokopec finishing off the seventh with two strike outs.

A 10-2 final score and the opportunity to play again in a fortnights time.  Come on out to West Beach Friday March 19th to support.

Hits: Harris, Maslin, Mitton, Prokopec, Smith (2); Dunn (Jenny), Handy (1).

Division 3 - Glenelg 9 lost to Port Adelaide 14

The inaugural season for our team came to an end when we lost 14-9 to minor premier Port Adelaide.

The final score did not reflect the closeness of this game.  Our batting was outstanding collecting 11 hits to our opponents 2.

Unfortunately our fielding did match this effort as we made 8 errors which gifted Port most of their runs.

3 hits were gathered by Tracey Tuting, with Lee Hayes, Lora Munro & Deb Clark each having 2 hits while Bec Saville & Amanda Osborn each had 1 hit.

Summing up it was an outstanding first season for the whole team.  Their improvement from pre-season was astronomical.  They are a wonderful group of players who were a pleasure to coach.

I promised them at the start of the season that we would have a lot of fun & they would learn a lot about this game. I believe we achieved both of these goals.
