Division 1 - Glenelg 10 def Sturt 0

After the weeks break due to wild weather we returned to West Beach to play the defending champs.  We mixed the defensive line up around a little to prepare options for finals and it look prophetic early on as their lead off fly out to left field with Jenna Handy making up a ton of ground to catch a ball in foul territory.  Smith set the tone in the first firing off her first of 4 shut out innings.

A very strong outing – 4 inn, 4 SO, 1 H, 0 R.  Supported strongly by our defense.  Prokopec closed out the game with a 1,2,3 inning in the fifth to complete the shut out.

Offensively we took advantage of a couple of misplayed balls early to put up 5 red runs in the first two innings.  Hits to Dunn, Prokopec, Aldwin mixed in with some aggressive baserunning that put constant pressure on their infield contributed to the scoring.

A third inning pitching change saw a quick 1,2,3 scoreless inning before we struck back in the fourth with four earnt runs.  A final run in the fifth completed the scoring.

Hits – Dunn (Jenny), Prokopec, Aldwin (2), Smith, Harris (1).

Big weekend ahead – Woodville Friday, Souths Monday and then Saints to close it out the Friday after.

Division 2 - Glenelg 14 def Henley & Grange 12

Division 3 - Glenelg 8 lost to Port Adelaide 14

We journeyed to Port Adelaide last Friday to take on top team.

This was a high class encounter and we were right in the game until Port got away from us in the last inning winning 14-8.

We matched them in the batting department with Bec Saville & Sally Forrest both recording 2 hits while Lee Hayes, Lora Munro, Sarz Husi & Jacquii Dunn each had 1 safe hit.

Jacqui & Bec both pitched strongly & we ran the bases aggressively to put pressure on the opposition. To Port’s credit their defence held up very well late in the game.

It’s exciting to say that with 3 rounds to go we cannot miss out on playing finals.  If we can put it altogether then I’m sure that we will most competitive at the business end of the season
