Under 15's - Glenelg 6 lost to Woodville-West Torrens 10

Our final mid-week game of the season was a hot one against Woodville-West Torrens at home last week.

Clearly heat affected from the days prior, the junior Tigers went down 6-10 to the combined team.

Callum started us off on the right foot, pitching three complete innings, with 5Ks, just one hit and a solitary run against.

Ollie battled over the next two frames, struggling to find the zone he still managed 2Ks. The opposition hung in there and they crossed the plate nine times.

Kai closed it out for us in the fifth to relieve Ollie and stop the damage with some serious support in the outfield from Wren.

Hits from Wren, Sam, Austin (on debut), Charlie and Henry (2) got the team on the board.

Under 15's - Glenelg 13 def Henley & Grange 6

A huge win at home on Sunday for the Tigers against top-of-the-division side Henley & Grange, 13-6.

The Tigers approached the game as a dress rehearsal for upcoming finals in the 1v2 game and performed exactly as hoped.

A very strong defence backed up pitchers Charlie and Callum on the mound – over six innings a combined effort of only 85 pitches and 6Ks sealed the win. Big hitting Henley & Grange snagged 13 hits against us but wasn’t enough to get them over the line.

Glenelg powered out 12 hits, with extra bases and heads-up baserunning driving home our 13 runs – Ollie (1), Sam (2), Charlie (2), Kai (1 single, 1 double), Callum (2 doubles) and Henry (2 singles, 1 double).

An excellent result leading into our finals campaign in the coming weeks.

We look to finish up this weekend with our last minor round game against Port Adelaide (for the first time this season due to COVID-cancellation) away, still maintaining our second place ranking on the ladder in division 2.

Under 14's - Glenelg 15 def Southern Districts 13

Under 13/1's - Glenelg 12 def Sturt 7

Under 13/2's - Henley Tigers 8 lost to Adelaide 11

Under 11 - Glenelg 8 def Sturt 7

The U11’s were back in business with a solid game against Sturt this weekend, taking home the win 8-7.

Sturt pitcher struggled with the zone, walking 7 in a row to score us the maximum 4 runs. Beau Martinella came out and kept the Saints quiet with just the 1 hit and 3 strikeouts.

After a pitching change we were able to fire up the bats, collecting 5 hits and 2 walks. Fantastic team batting and it was great to see our players swinging the bat. James Jucha hitting his first ball of the season was a highlight, followed by Zac MacLean’s double. Owen McHugh, Lincoln Harris, Jimmy Newbold and Mason Osborn also picking up hits of their own to score us another 4 runs.

The middle of the game proved to be tough as we had trouble challenging the Sturt hitters, giving up 4 runs and unable to score any runs of our own.

We went into the final inning 8-4, passing the ball over to Owen to close out the game. With a couple of walks, a strikeout and a fielder’s choice, the bases were loaded and 2 out. Sturt’s
number 2 hitter hit the ball just behind second, out of the reach of Beau to score 2 runs. Owen came back and struck out the next hitter for the 3rd out and the Tigers victory!
