Excited to match up for our first home game at the GBC this season we faced the Hawks from Southern Districts. Bianca Smith set the tone for her day with a 1,2,3 top of the first. Bianca went the distance giving up just the 2 runs on 7 scattered hits over 5 innings.
Offensively we took advantage of an early misplayed ball to score four in the first. In the second J Dunn squared got us started before a text book bunt moved both runners into scoring position allowing our 3,4 hitters to cash in. A five spot in the third helped make the scoreline comfortable, some great two out at bats contributing to the outcome.
Jacqui Dunn continued her strong game getting on with two outs in the fourth, giving our top of the order another chance to cash in and we managed another couple runs.
14-2 the final. Final round this Friday night prior to the Christmas break – we have the late game at West Beach vs Sturt.
Another close game for the new girls which caused their Coach to go even more grey (if that’s possible).
We trailed all night & were 2 runs behind at the start of the last inning.
Some clutch hitting saw the Tiger girls score 3 runs in the top of the last to lead by 1 run.
Maite then closed out the game with a 3 up 3 down effort assisted by some calm fielding resulting in a 11-10 win.
Lora Munro was the best of our batters with 3 hits with singles to Jacqui Dunn, Maite Castillo-Gilbert, Bec Saville & Kate Kim.
Jacqui & Maite were excellent on the mound & were well caught by Bec. Important outfield catches to Lora & Sarz Husi together timely infield plays from Amanda Osborn & Kate went a long way to giving us victory.
This Friday we are at home to West Torrens & will be out for revenge as they inflicted our only loss this season the last time we met.
