The fourth week of our consecutive road trip to begin the season saw us take the journey to Findon to play the Woodville Senators. Possessing a strong state team pitcher – catcher battery we knew we had a big night ahead of us.
We took advantage of some misplays before they settled into the game with 1-2 balls finding grass in the first inning that they would normally take advantage of, but with those mixed around some strong hitting we put up a 5 spot to give us the ultimate start to the game.
We breezed through the bottom of the fifth – taking advantage of Woodvilles aggressive approach as Alice filled up the strike zone. 2 pop ups to Aldwin at second base sandwiched a 1-3 comebacker.
We managed 2 more in the second, 1 in the fourth and 4 in the fifth to complete our scoring, putting up 12 on the night. Jenny Dunn, Prokopec, Maslin & Kenney all with multiple hits on the night.
Prokopec went the distance on the hill, scattering 3 hits in 5 innings of scoreless ball.
All in all a really good team win, flawless defence and a smart, consistent approach to our at bats giving us a 12-0 win in the end. Still areas to improve in but we are building nicely into the season.
Your Division 1 women play their first home game of the season this Friday against Port Adelaide, in front of an expected large crowd. Go Tigers.
