Under 15's - BYE

Under 13's - Glenelg 10 lost to West Torrens 12

The U13 Tigers went into battle against West Torrens over the weekend and put on a fantastic game for our supporters.

In what was our best competitive performance so far this season (despite multiple injuries), we recorded 9 safe hits in 5 innings, including two doubles.

Whilst our pitchers Beau, Kody and Lucas collectively acquired just 3 strikeouts against the opposition, our defence did the work in the field to hold them each inning in a great team effort.

Unfortunately, we weren’t quite able to get across the line for the win, going down 12-10.

Our best performers for the day were Blake with 2 singles and a double (which resulted in an in the park home run on an error), Cameron with 2 singles, and Liam with a beautifully hit double and a fantastic day behind the plate - even throwing out a runner at second!

The biggest highlight for us was welcoming back Noah to the team for his first game of the season after recovering from a broken arm. Noah should be commended for his commitment and support to the entire team this season. Even though he hasn’t been able to play, Noah has been in attendance at nearly all trainings and games. He has been a pleasure to have with us weekly even though we weren’t able to put him on the field. Welcome back Noah!

Every single team member should be proud of the effort, commitment and resilience they displayed in the absence of head coach Ben Alexander. Their drive and focus to compete this week would have certainly made him proud.

Lastly, a big thank you to Adam who stepped in to help (as he does regularly). Your assistance and patience is very appreciated and we’re very lucky to have the help of parents like yourself.

Under 11's - Glenelg 7 lost to Adelaide 9

Tough conditions at Anderson Avenue greeted the under 11s this week.  Louis got the start for the home side, pitching to Owen.  He did well early but needed some help from the field.  Zac got us started with a hit and patience to everyone else saw the scores 4-4 at the bottom of the first.  A special mention to Mason who took one of the tougher HPB received in under 11s this year.

Seth got us going in the second and threw strikes.  A really good baseball fielding innings saw a strike-out, an out at third by Louis and a throw home with bases loaded to save the run by Seth to Owen.  In the bottom of the second a hit to Mason and walks to everyone else had the scores at 5-7.

Zac started the third inning and battled in the conditions with the under 11s needing to come from 9-7 down with our last bat.  Owen got a great hit to lead off bringing up ‘lefty’ Reuben.  In a good play by the Angels we got an out at second.  Zac got a nice hit to left field with two out just before the final out saw the game finish with Adelaide up 9-7.

Good signs again for the Tigers moving forward and we all learned a few more things about the game.  The big two discussions this week were the performance effects of hooded jumpers and wet weather regulations.  For those who don’t know the umpire decides (decision effected in our game by the facts the umpire was a. fresh from schoolies b. had been pre-paid and c. isn’t a morning person).
