Glenelg defeated Goodwood 12- 0

We rolled out Flynn to pitch he threw a little longer than I would have liked ,he looked to be going along fine a good strong effort .Tom then come in to close and threw strikes to finish them off, well done

We had a slow start with the bats their pitcher is very capable and also being a lefty was hard to get away ,once we settled down and challenge him, we then came through. Joe again batted very well I was very happy with one of his times at bat were he got trick by the pitch kept his head on it then had to take one hand off the bat to make contact and lined the ball into right field for a base hit ,this is a sign of a hitter doing the correct thing to a successful .Mason also hit well, Mouse, Rion  came up will hits over all not too bad with the bats, base running was excellent

We had no pressure, at all in the field  ,so no comment by me. Keep up the good work.

Glenelg defeated East Torrens 8-7

Our final game for 2016 was a tight contest against the Red Sox. Both teams were evenly matched and good pitching contained the hitters for most of the morning. The game was locked away at 3 all after five innings with the scoring coming from a couple of long balls. The Tigers broke the game open in the fifth inning scoring 5 runs due to some good consecutive hits. The Red Sox came back at us but could only manage 4 runs (with two outs) in the sixth.

Well done to Harvey Simo for hitting another Homer and playing 3rd base with ease and Charlie Diso for collecting 3 well connected hits and making some good defensive plays. This was breakout game for him.

It was good to have Charlie McA back after 5 weeks on the disabled list with an arm break, he got into the action straight away knocking two hits.

Thanks to Darcy G for umpiring this week. It is great that young club members are willing to volunteer to officiate games and he was at times under pressure and although he did not have his international rule book with him he did a good job.

Glenelg defeated Golden Grove CD 11-3

Our first game for 2017 against the Dodgers was a bit of a dust brusher. The Dodgers, with only eight players, were a little green and this was lucky for us as we were still in holiday mode. The Beach, River, Cricket, Motorbikes and general holiday good times had the boys out of Baseball mode and a little rusty.

Well done to Josh B for a good return to the “hill”. He hit the zone and looked good.

We look forward to The City Nine next week, these guys are contenders and this game will be a test and perhaps determine where we rank come the end of the minor round.

Go Tigers!

Glenelg defeated Adelaide 13-3

With the start of the second half of the season last Sunday, we travelled to wiegel oval to play Angels. We started with some wayward pitching that walked us around the bases, Nik was able to get a hit as we're able to get 4 in. Nik then started at the plate, after getting the cobwebs out, helped out by Charlie in the field we gave up only 3 bases. In the second we had great hits by olie olie olie, Angus and through the whole game great patients at the plate from Gus, Cyrus,Sam and Zack. We put 2 more runs on the board. In came Charlie to pitch who gave them nothing with 3 strike outs. The thirds highlight was carenza hit that got us 2 more runs. After rushing back down from Southern Districts Georgia hit the mound and destroyed there next 3 all struck out. Coming into the fourth Georgia hit a double and we walked in 3 to be 13/0 up. We then got Angus in to pitch who is just starting to pitch get some more experience, and Callum at catcher both improving on these new position, we allowed 3 runs in and had loaded bases with 2 out, step up olie with a classic catch to end the game 13/3. We are still undefeated and still have a lot of improving to go, we play Adelaides second team again away this week.
