Progress report on the first half of the season

This side is our elite junior  ball players......currently we are 5 wins and 0 losses.   These are young men who singularly have goals to play Division 1 for GBC and higher.  Each week the coaching staff issue each player individual aspects of their game to work on and improve.

The team is also given team challenges collectively to achieve each week.  When these processes are achieved the results look after themselves.

Each and every player has performed and executed those processes in some form it is up to them to work on these aspects individually to realise their goals.  We are a team that does not train together but drawn together from Div 1,2,3 & U17 each Wednesday evening.

A number of them will be competing at the Goodwill Series post Xmas followed by National Championships.  There are also some who missed selection and it is hard to understand why this happened based on what they have shown our coaching staff.

We as a club are fortunate  to have so much talent available and need to continue to develop these individuals  and look after them.

This is also an open invitation to come along and support these future stars of GBC and watch a brand of baseball that will entertain you.

Glenelg defeated Sturt 14 to 7

We jump out to the blocks with the bat getting a 5 nil lead in the top of the first ,then went into the field and fielded poorly allowing them to stay in touch ,a little disappointing ,Rion pitch very well and kept his composure as  this lack of concentration appeared well done Rion!

We then settled down and fielded quite well after that. Our batting again was excellent, many good drives to all parts of the field ,Mason and Joe again showing the way .Mouse, Day, Luders ,Rion and Huttumen all picking up hits, Very pleasing .base running needs work!

Overall we go to the break undefeated which is well done by the boys,  as we drive to the finals we will need to sharpen up and finish the job we set ourselves. I feel confident in this group and when it gets tough they can get it done

Merry xmas to all and be in contact with training schedule

Glenelg defeated Adelaide 21-1

On the back of our best all round performance of the season we really wanted to carry forward some momentum into this must win game. Henry McAuliffe drove in 2 runs in the top of the first with a ground rule double and before we knew it we had put a 7 spot on the board. Max Stagg starting on the hill and pitched to the game situation with a lot of strikes and giving up 1 run in his 2 innings of work. Adam Wurfel was solid behind the dish and hit his 2nd homer of the year with the bat. Cooper Giles did a lot of the damage for us, hitting 3 doubles and driving in 7 runs. After scoring the maximum in our 3 innings I gave the ball to rookie Cooper Beeckin and he pitched like a veteran, notching up a 1-3 with a perfectly played come backer on the first hitter he has ever thrown to. This win helps steady the ship a little as we head into the long break, the guys get a well earnt break and we will ramp up for what we hope is a strong second half of the season. Merry xmas to all, stay safe and have fun with the family and friends.

Glenelg defeated West Torrens 15-0

With the break here it was our aim to finish the first half still undefeated. We played the Indians a couple of weeks ago, which was a wake up call, to show us we couldn't just leave it to the usual players.Charlie and Georgia both hit and pitched well, backed up by great bats by Riley and callum.Sam showed his hard work at batting is paying off by having  a patiences and hitting the right balls. Nik, Max and Angus showed in glimpse of good form.Cyrus is making great improvement at catcher, while Gus, zack and Oliver hung in and helped us grin out the win 4/3.

Last week's game seen us coming up to an improving West Torrens. We started off with Nik on the mound who gave us 2 scoreless innings, and followed up with great at bats and catch. Oliver stepped up to the mound and gave us another scoreless innings. Our batting was on target this week scoring 15 runs and game called early as we got thru all there pitchers. Once again Riley, Charlie, Angus and Callum made great hits. With Cyrus getting a double, Zack,Ren and Gus showing aggression at the plate,Sam made great at catcher, and not to forget Georgia hitting her first over the cones 2 run homer. it was our best Game to date.15/0
