Glenelg defeated Sturt 9-1

Flynn Started pitching and pitch very confidently the game was mostly played in light rain so the ball was heavy and hard to control so his effort was excellent. Mouse closed game well, he need to get some pitching in before  the finals begin.

Defensively very good no mistakes, well done ,Odin Mundy played first base and did well ,Mason  made a very good play at short stop showing his class.

The teams batting was good ,Odin with two hits and a well-executed hit and run was the high light ,and then singles to mostly everyone else. All still on track.

Glenelg lost to Henley and Grange 13-2

The Thursday night blues aren’t the best.

Our first midweek fixture was against the first Rams down at west lakes. We threatened in the first with a couple of guys on base, after a good at bat we came unstuck on a tough strike three call. Max Stagg starting on the hill, after a chinker to get them started a couple more hits saw us down 3-0 after the first.

We loaded the bases in the top of the second with none out, but could only squeeze 1 run over the plate. We retired the rams in 4 batters and the score was within reach at 3-1. Henry McAuliffe lead off with a perfect bunt for a base hit and would go ahead and score bring us to 3-2, we later lost the tying run at the plate with the forced slide rule seeing a guy doubled up at the dish.

Cooper Giles took the ball in relief and threw very well, a 2 out, 2 strikes single caused the damaged we have learnt a lesson about how to throw guys with 2 strikes on them. The game got a little out of hand after this and the score line doesn’t really reflect the tightness of the game.

We have 3 days to regroup before our next game which now becomes a must win.

Glenelg defeated Golden Grove 11-8

Sunday and it’s raining runs.

With the trek out to dodger stadium behind us we needed a W or our season was officially done. Harry Leaker took the ball and managed to settle down after a shaky first inning where we gave up 4 runs, but then only 1 red run in the next 3 innings.

Adam Wurfel lead off with a single and a couple hitters later we had 0 outs and the bases loaded. Harry helped himself out knocking in our first run, the a RBI walk to Josh Ayles and a tough grounder to 3rd from Jordy Bennetta Williams had the score back to 5-3. Henry McAuliffe stepped up with a single to score a run, then base hits to Cooper Beecken and Darcy Gluyas saw us post a 7 spot and grab the lead.

After a 1 out walk I called on Darcy to get these next 2 outs and eventually finish off the game, retiring the first 2 hitters he faced we held on to that 2 run lead.

With a couple of walks to load em up, Darcy got us a run in with a ground out, followed by an Wurfel singled to knock in another run.

With the rain now pretty steady there was no sign the game would get called as it was an important outcome for both sides, to our credit we held on in the last inning despite loaded the bases with 0 outs, Henry made a slot 6-3 for the first out, Max Stagg getting the final out with the tying run at the plate.

One of our better games from all sides, but we can still improve. The guys showed to themselves that our best can mix it with the better sides, we just need to bring our intensity and focus on the job each week and in particular to each pitch of the game.

Glenelg defeated Kensington 16-2

The Tiger Little Leaguers had a good game against the Cardinals on Sunday. The boys were in control of the game from the get go and it was good to see the boys return to baseball in good style.

Our hitting was pretty good with big knocks to Noah Josh, Ryan, Kai and Charlie McA. The biggest of all, again, was Harvey who hit a “Four Stroker” over the cones - the boys enjoyed this and got around him at the plate then collapsed into the mud after he made his circuit. He nearly won himself a free pasty from the Bakery on Hallett Road.

In the field our plays are taking shape and well done to Ryan for receiving the whole game in tough conditions. He threw out a couple of Cardinal runners with some good field throwing.

Pitching duties went to Harvey, Luke and Conor - all three boys hit up the zone and had good outings.

The next couple of weeks we play a 'double header' agains The Eagles.

Go Tigers!

Glenelg defeated Goodwood 13-0

Sunday's game we played Goodwood in trying conditions, our young tigers who haven't played since last year, needed a hit out. We stood up well with Charlie having his best Game at both sides of the game. Nik ,Sam, Riley all got in the rhythm of the game, Georgia gave her usual self, Cyrus keeps improving with a hit, Zack doing everything right and it will be only a matter of time and he'll be hitting diggers, same with callum, and not to forget Oliver who is making his mark with the bat. The next 2 games against Sthrn and Sturt are our biggest games of the year, we look forward to the challenge, and if we keep improving like we have, things will look good for the tigers.

Glenelg v Woodville

The Glenelg under 9s played at home against the Woodville Senators on Sunday morning for their first game after the holiday break.

Oliver, Alfie, Ben, Ben, Ben, Lucas, Xavier and Ari were joined by Lucas and Liam who were playing their first game for the team this season. In their first game the boys did a great job with the bat and in the field.

The team continues to develop quickly, making plays in the field, hitting the ball hard and running the bases.

Some of the boys had their first chance to put on the catchers gear and sit behind home plate for an innings which was great to see.

A special mention has to go to one of the boys from Woodville, who took a spectacular outfield catch off a huge hit!

With a couple of games to go hopefully all the boys are having a lot of fun and keen to keep playing in the future.
